Ruby corundum, essentially the same stone as sapphire (just a different color) is a beautiful reddish gem. Corundum is the second hardest mineral, making it second to only diamonds. These rubies are sold by width and weight. Thickness varies on these but range from .4-.6" on the small to .8-1" on the extra large.
Natural Ruby is one of four “precious” gemstones (including Diamond, Emerald and Sapphire) known its rarity, monetary value, and hardness (second only to Diamond). Ruby is red Corundum, an aluminum oxide mineral with chromium responsible for its rich, red color.
Metaphysically, rubies are used to sharpen the mind, allowing you to see your own strengths. Additionally, rubies are used for sexual activity as aphrodisiacs.
I have photographed these in different light settings to try and give you an idea of their coloring and features under variable environments.
